Prof. Debapriyo Chatterjee
Welcome to The Prof Eye Care.
I am Prof. Debapriyo Chatterjee, an Assistant Professor of Optometry at NSHM Knowledge Campus, Durgapur, with over 17 years of professional experience in optometry, vision care, and optometric education.
My academic journey began with a Bachelor of Optometry from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT), which I completed in 2009. Driven by a passion for advancing my knowledge and clinical expertise, I pursued a Master of Optometry from Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (VMRF), graduating in 2011.
Committed to lifelong learning and academic excellence, I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Optometry from Sunrise University, Alwar, Rajasthan.
Throughout my professional journey, I have had the opportunity to work across diverse eye care settings, including eye hospitals, vision centers, and corporate eyewear organizations, both within India and internationally. These experiences have provided me with extensive exposure to clinical optometry, patient care, optical dispensing, contact lens practice, and vision management.
In 2016, I successfully cleared the professional licensing examination of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, further expanding my international professional credentials.
While clinical practice has been an integral part of my career, my true passion has always been education and mentorship. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to teaching and nurturing future eye care professionals. I served as a faculty member and Assistant Professor at Paramedical College, Durgapur, for approximately four years before joining NSHM Knowledge Campus, where I have been contributing to optometry education for the past two years.
